    Correct, although what constitutes 'loam' is open to interpretation!

    Shrubs ought to be potted in loam based compost, as it gives weight, is less likely to dry out, doesn't sour so easily and may give a little more protection from vine weevil.

    And , naturally, the best 'John Innes' is the one you mix yourself

    ....which is where I came in.
