Fitted carpet complaint

I bought off cuts.., was amazed at the size of the off cuts on ebay lol.., there were some 6M long. Doing this, I was able to buy better quality carpet, in fact it is the best quality carpet I've ever had in a home.., but cost no more than rather cheap carpet. Ebay often sells similiar offcuts so doing this does not mean you end up with a home looking like its got rainbow flooring.

Thanks deannatrois I think I'll do this when this carpet wears through to the underlay which shouldn't be long! =p

I have had a similar situation:
I would say keep on at the fitter to sort his part of the problem out (i.e. the carpet fitting properly, not lifting or wrinkling etc) and also go back to the carpet shop and say that you don't feel the carpet has lasted long enough regardless of underlay or fitting...(in fact, don't even mention these things, as they'll just pass the buck again).
I'd say 4 year old underlay isn't that old. And even a cheap carpet should last a year (I just bought a cheap one from Carpetright and was told it is only guaranteed for a year).
Try again, don't let it get you down. It is a lot of money to some of us, and there should be some level of understanding, support and recompense even for customers who've not bought the best quality products, we can't all afford Karndean. Good luck.

Our carpet was cheap not the cheapest but in the lower range. And we have no underlay at all.
The only places it's marked is slightly in the doorway and where hubby feet go when Sat on the sofa.
We've had it almost two years now, we was a family of six for most of the time. Now five adults plus a dog!!!

Oh and shoes are worn indoors

Thanks for the replies folks! Theyve filled me with a little bit of hope. Waiting on the fitter coming back out to sort and advise. Since speaking to the shop the carpet looks worse! Almost looks baldy in parts. I've taken some pics to try and show the healthy carpet and one of the patches that has flattened and looks rubbish.
