Confusing benefit top up, I think im correct

Ok as of August 23rd last year I paid £20 a month top up on my rent.
Jan 2016 I decide to apply for DHP and thought I would ask about backdating it to August meaning up to that point I topped up £120 myself.
Council approves backdating from August 2015 to March 2016.
I suppose the confusion there for me in part is because they pay in arrears so Augusts rent was paid in September I assume.
Anyway got a phone call from landlord today saying my DHP has stopped so I have to pay top ups again and since rent was due at weekend I have to pay today.
Surely for the months of August-Jan he was paid twice for the top up, once by me once by council so no top up is due yet? (handing in new DHP form today anyway)
Yes I will ask for a rent breakdown from landlord but just so I can discuss with landlord first about my concerns.

Maybe worth reapplying for DHP. Sounds like it ended because it is the end of the financial year.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Yes I am reapplying, good point on the financial year but its more about the LL claiming I now owe money because its stopped when in my mind I should be £120 in credit minus this months £200

There is no requirement to.
If the tenant wants to dispute something, then they themselves should produce a rent statement.
Surely if the landlord claims money is owed they should produce a rent statement to prove such a claim not the tenant to prove they don't?
In other words they are disputing something to me and I am responding to that dispute.0 -
