Some advice please.

hi, I have several money related problems all of which come from a credit card problem that seems to have no end to it.

When I started to work in london I applied for a credit card with ppi so that if I ever got made redundant I would at least be covered and could sleep at night, this was back in 2001. I was paying monthly payments of £12 for the ppi. In July 2004 I was made very suddenly redundant as my department was completely out sourced to india (I worked on a helpdesk) this was not good timing as I was due to get married in august.

So off I went and telephoned the helpline number to activate my insurance on the card and at least not have that to worry about until I have found another job. I sent back the forms they wanted filled in and told me that the interest and charges on the card would be stopped.

In august my partner at the time suffered from bad depression and decided she didn't want me near her any more and left which meant I was paying the entire of the house hold bills on my savings which living in london were rapidly disappeared and no luck on the job front, one day I recieved a call from lloyds tsb stating that my card payments were over due and that I had to make an immediate payment.

I informed her of my situation and that I had insurance which she agreed should cover me, I rang the helpdesk and asked them why I was still being charged and why the insurance hadn't been used and they claimed the paperwork was incomplete and they had send it back to me.

I recieved the paperwork back in september after numerous phone calls and even more charges piling on top. I took the paperwork into my local lloyds branch as they said they would look it over for me and send it off for me. October came and once again I got a phone call stating that I had been charged even more money and that now I had debt collectors telephoning me to arrange repayment.

I tried to explain what was going on to them but they would have non of it and wanted repayment of the entire outstanding credit card balance (was something like £5,500 at this point). November came and I didn't recieve any phone calls so assumed it had all been taken care of (like an idiot).

December came with a nice letter in the post saying that i was being taken to court by lloyds tsb and that if I did not pay the full amount of the outstanding balance of the credit card I would be given a ccj on my record. Luckily I had managed to find a job literally a day before this and agreed to make monthly payments of £100 until I had paid off the more urgent debts that would not make me homeless or mean I would starve to death.

In a visit to the bank in september 2005 I spoke to an accounts adivsor that gave me the wonderful advice of getting a loan to cover the cost of the outstanding balance and give me the money to consolidate all my other debts all into one (£8000 over 84 months with ppi @ £44 a month as well) I was told at the time that I would have to have the insurance if i wanted the loan or I would not be allowed the loan. At this point the loan repayments for this loan was less than the rest of my outstanding debts and seemed a better option for me.

everything was fine until february of this month when as i was driving to work my car and me was driven off the road by a lorry driver (car was a write off and I was in hospital with 3 broken ribs and 17 stitches in my head) I went to the bank to see about a loan repayment break so I could at least get a cheap runaround to enable me to keep working but was refused. I applied to get a car on finance and was also refused and advised to see my credit rating.

It seems that in january 2005 I was given a CCJ by northampton county court on behalf of lloyds tsb and that I have a list the lenght of my arm of default payments on the credit card for £929 which was charges levied on the card after it was cancelled.

Rather stupidly I went into lloyds demanding to know why I had recieved the ccj and the women couldn't give me any idea or reason. Since then I have been having a running battle with them to remove the PPI payments from my current loan. They won't simply remove it and told me refinancing the load is the only option which is fine by me. But as I am now risk rated 9 or what ever that is I am on a higher interest rate and they cannot reduce the repayment lenght which is still 60 months (new refinance deal - 60 months paying back the outstanding balance = £214.31)

I have tried to apply for different loans from different companies but been turned down flat, I cannot even get a phone on contract because of this.

I just don't know where to turn or what to do as every time I tried to change or make it better it makes me a lot worse off.

thanks for taking the time to read this, makes me feel alot better just getting it off my chest.
