This will have been exacerbated by the fact that the interest you paid will have come from taxed income whilst the interest you paid them would have been subject to tax.
I think the plan was to use the savings for car maintenance/rainy day. I literally was 19 and inexperienced!0 -
If you've been billed, I wouldn't ignore it.If it was a DSAR why did they send me all the info and then send me a letter asking for £10 two weeks later from a different department?? I might just ignore it. I've got what I want!
If the letter is simply informing you that a formal Subject Access Request costs £10 then there is nothing to pay...0 -

Thankyou, I don't want to jeopardize my PPI claim (which hasn't been acknowledged yet). This is the exact wording...(with a copy of my letter asking for information stapled to it)...what do you think?
"Thank you for your recent request regarding your HBOS accounts. If you want to apply formally under the Data Protection Act a fee of £10 per person is payable. Please note, your request will not be processed until this fee is received. I'm sorry for any inconvenience caused and I've enclosed your original documentation. To enable your request to be completed you need to return the enclosed together with the payment as soon as possible".
That's the baffling bit - they sent it to me straight away! Do they normally bill retrospectively?0 -
It's not a bill.
If you wish, you can request any further data they may hold about you, but that would cost you £10.
The info they have already sent was probably easily available to them and didn't require a SAR.0 -

Thank you, I agree! I don't require anything further so will leave it. Many thanks.0 -
I have today received a letter of acknowledgement for the PPI complaint form I submitted. They say they will contact me with their reply on or before the 2nd June. Fingers crossed!0

UPDATE!
Letter received, all upheld!
Almost £900 coming to me, I expected £400....got to figure out why it is so high but it looks like interest added on.
I am thrilled and it didn't cost me anything apart from 2 stamps!
It took 4 weeks, not 8.0 -
