Fun things to do on a budget

Teach the preteens to cook different dishes! It will honestly pay dividends when they're older. It's a way of trying new things, teaching useful life skills and having family time as you all sit down to eat the results.0

If you want something to do on a regular basis the cinnamon trust is in desperate of people to walk dogs etc for the elderly and terminally ill. It can also make trips to the woods, park etc more enjoyable. Its a good way of showing children the responsibilities of pets and the importance of helping others.
Now the weather is nicer more things are possible as well.
Volunteering at places like
-Community allotments
-Local river/canal area cleaning
-Company care (for the lonely and housebound)
At home
-Home made quess who, this is a good one you can use famil members, cartoon characters or celebs.
-blind guide, one person has a blind fold on another has to give instruction to carry out a task, always quite funny
-get a petsathome VIP card, there are lots of activities in the free magazine, they often have events in school holidays
-wild tasks like spotting birds, insects etc
-make an insect house using a plastic bottle with the bottom cut off stuffed with sticks and twigs
-movie night with homemade snacks, you can make a cheap batch of chocolate crispy cakes or super cheap popcorn0 -
The Pound shops sell some nice crafting stuff, a few packs could give them hours of fun, making birthday cards etc for family and friends.
Our local library runs a children's book club during the summer holidays which is popular.
When we were kids in the 1960s we used to take a picnic to our local country park and fill containers with blackberries picked from the hedges. Then helped Mum make jam or pies with them.0 -
Geocaching! Its fun, free and a bit of an adventure with some treasure at the end :j
Also if you are on O2 check O2 priority for deals, you can get loads of great deals on there from eating out to cinema deals and so on. One of our favourite free days out was a visit to Currys to wander around looking at the tech things....yes, I have weird children!0
