If you truly have 43 years contributions you should have the full basic pension or very close to it depending on when you reached SPa.

So what year did you reach state pension age (65 for males, 60 - 63 for women depending on age).

What is the uprated figure for "Basic Pension" on your notification. Is it £89.48, £115.95 or some other figure?

I reached pension age at 60 years in 1995 but retired in 1998.

The (new) basic State Pension is £89.48
Pre '97 Additional State Pension: £26.27
    Totaling.................................. £115.75
    Graduated Retirement Benefit £2.92
    Age addition.................................£0.25
    Grand total.............................. £118.92

The basic state pension increases with the triple lock, that is to say by CPI, earnings (September of previous tax year) or 2.5% whichever is the highest. In September 2016, the increase in earnings (at 2.9%) was higher than the other two.

The other components increase by CPI in September of the previous tax year.

In September 2015 CPI was negative.

Perhaps you need to layout all of the components that makes this up and what you think they should be?

Thanks greenglide. As you will see above I have posted the details of my pension from 11 April 2016 as notified by the Dept of Works & Pensions.

I believe the basic SP should be 115.95 (not 115.75). The other components, according to xylophone, apparently do not increase (if as he says the CPI was negative when the calculation was made).

Therefore according to my calculations the figures are:
Basic SP plus Add SP Total....................115.95
    Graduated Retirement Benefit.................. 2.92
    Age addition...........................................0.25
    Total Pension pw.................................119.12

As I also mentioned above, I have 44 years of NI payments, so do you think the assessment is correct?

    Would appreciate your views.

I have a letter dated November 1999 from the then Dept of Social Security that my working life covered 44 years and that my pension entitlement was uprated to 75% (to include my overseas employment in Australia). Till now, I have relied on the Pension Department for its figures.

Is it to do possibly with reciprocal arrangements with Australia perhaps as

    119.30 x 0.75 = 89.48

where £119.30pw is the full basic state pension for 2016/2017 (£115.95pw is the equivalent full basic state pension 2015/2016 rate)

Whatever the reason it looks like you are entitled to only 75% of the full UK basic state pension (?), £89.48pw, and then you have the other elements on top to your UK state pension as per your breakdown i.e.

Working lifetime is just the period from age 16 to age 60 (i.e. 44 years) by the way, the maximum National Insurance contribution record period (for SPA 60)
My new entitlement (from April 2016) shows basic State Pension £89.48; pre 97 Additional State Pension £26.27: Total: £115.75. Elsewhere it seems this should be £115.95
You are mixing up BASIC state pension and ADDITIONAL state pension. There is no reason that

75% of full basic state pension in 2016/2017 terms (= £89.48)

    + pre 97 additional state pension in 2016/2017 terms (= £26.27)

    should equal

100% of full basic state pension in 2015/2016 terms (= £115.95)

Thank youSnowMan for clarifying the issue for me.

The period amounting to 44 years covered in the letter was 1951 to 1995 (including the Australian period) - which was in error as I returned to the UK in 1998 a further 3 years of employment in Australia. I should have pointed this out at the time but I was fully involved in settling down.

Is it possible at this stage to ask for clarification as to why I am receiving 75% of a full pension; if so is it the Pension Service I should speak to?

I think that is the next step to clarify why it is 75%.

It is probably the international pensions centre you need to speak to
