Poor credit score

I am looking for advice. I have a poor credit score but have no idea how to improve it. I own my house & am mortgage free. All of my accounts are up -to-date & paid on time. I have two credit cards only one of which is near it's limit. I have a number of loans/credit accounts paid off in full. I've been registered on the electoral roll for over 7 years (although waiting addition for my new address, I've only been there one month). All my financial accounts are marked as OK. There are no judgements or reports of fraud against me. I have no idea how to improve my score. Yes, I would love to pay off my credit cards but can't at the moment but the account is still marked as OK. I got married a couple of years ago & accounts from my maiden name are finally starting to show up. Can anybody explain to me why my rating is so poor when I'm actually in quite a good financial position??!!!:mad:
