I could live semi isolated myself, after years of living among diy freaks,a nasty neighbour, whose hubby is an ok fella? housing estates shooting up everywhere around me.
A nice house in the country sounds nice, but a nice price as well.

Don't drink too much though...it is a criminal offence to be drunk in charge of a carriage under section 12 of the Licensing Act 1872. A carriage is a bicycle. Although really the only penalty that would apply in reality is a telling off from the police officer. Not unknown for the matter to go to court though. http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/ancient-law-snares-man-caught-864648

On his first offence he was pushing the bike home. That's plod for you - you do what you think is the sensible and responsible thing and get off the bike to walk it home, and they nick you anyway. Well done constable. (Maybe he was drunkenly pushing it down an A-Road and risking a collision with a car? Nope, Elm Road, Limeside, which Google Maps shows to be a quiet residential street with nice wide pavements.)

The second time he was actually riding the bicycle while "twice the drink drive limit" - i.e. after about four pints. That I suppose is a fair cop. However you can hardly blame him, as the lesson he was given from Greater Manchester Plod is that if you cycle to the pub and get drunk, you should plough on home regardless and on no account get off and push. If you ride it home you are committing an offence and if you walk it home you are committing an offence, but it will take around five times as long to walk it back so you are five times as likely to be nicked by a copper. Sure, pushing the bike would be much safer and more sensible, but you aren't living in a sensible society.

(If anyone is going to suggest he should have left the bike at the pub and come back for it in the morning, don't be bloody stupid.)
