DRO almost complete, when to get a credit card?

Hi there, i have approx 6 weeks left to run on my DRO, and i am reading that in order to start building my credit rating back up, i should apply for a "easy too get" credit card, use it and pay it off every month, so it doesnt cost me anything, but shows as a positive on my credit file.

My question is, do i wait until my DRO has expired, or do i apply now, and not use it until it i am clear?

Also, what other things should i do to build my rating?

thanks for any help.

Wait till you are out of the moratorium - you then no longer have to declare the DRO when getting credit over £500
  • Wait until it is complete.

Get a copy of your credit reports and make sure all info is correct

    Have a look here

Also try mycashplus and icount prepaid cards. Also capital one pre paid card (if its still available)

And get a vanquis or similar card.

How can you tell when its discharged? Is it just automatic after 12mnths?

    Yes it is.

There's no official 'proof' but the entry on the insolvency register does change, and stays there for 3 months, so it's useful to print off a copy.
