Do you mean something like this? http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/maplin-digital-tv-tuner-for-android-micro-usb-connection-a83qu0

Depends on what device they are dongles as listed above, but some devices like Samsung android lock them so you can not update the android version without buying a new device, hence why they are a useless choice for tablets.I do Contracts, all day every day.0

I know I can get it from a shop but I thought there are free apps from Playstore?0

An Android phone has no UHF tuner. You cannot just download an app, the hardware isn't there. What are you actually trying to do?0

Yep, if you like fiddling, that is. There is currently an Android app (SDR Touch) which allows you to interface with an RTL-SDR TV dongle with the Realtek RTL2832U chipset (on ebay for £5-10) via USB-OTG (99p+) going to the dongle. It's not great, especially on a smaller device, but what you're asking for can be accomplished with it.

50 to 1800MHz is the rough range of receive, but you can potentially go further. CB radio, located down on 26/27MHz, can be picked up on mine. Each polar end is worse off, but UHF I've found, is perfect, especially the microphones/uplinks/call to prayer.
Just out of interest, what project do you have planned for it? Decoding data and tracking flights is my personal favourite.0 -
