Playa Blanca or Costa Tequise

I know I have left it late but we are looking for a week or 10 days around April 25th or 26th to Lanzarote, we are undecided on which resort to pick, I have heard both Costa Teguise and Playa Blanca are nice resorts. We are taking my 18yr old son with us so have to think of him so not wanting total peace and quiet. I would be grateful for any recommendation of resort and accommodation, (not sure whether to go all inc or self catering). Also is it cheaper to put the holiday together yourself or go with a company like thomson etc.
Thanks
Thanks

Costa Teguise is very quiet. Playa blanca has more in the way of things to do, and is the ferry port to Fuerteventura (nice day trip, get the fred olson boat to corralejo).
As for price, depends how low you can get a late deal through an agent, usually the closer to booking the cheaper the agents get. Best to contact an agent, tell them your budget and see what they come back with, then go online and see if you can DIY it cheaper.
I've heard the Timanfaya Princess in Playa Blanca is nice through friends (not sure on spelling there). I've been to Puerto Del Carmen and hated it, but there is a lot there in terms of shops, food and drink.
Maybe have a look at the other islands in the Canaries as well? They are all quite similar in flight times.0 -
Thanks Dom, the only reason I have chosen Lanzarote is because its the only Canarian Island we have'nt been to and I suppose there is more chance of the weather being better in the Canaries than the rest of Europe at end of April.0

I've been to all parts of the island and liked them all. Playa Blanca on the whole is a little bit more upmarket than Costa Teguise. Playa Blanca has a harbour and a marina you can walk all along the seafront from one end to the other. There are bars and restaurants for entertainment at both areas usually in the height of season they say CT is more for families. PB is a longer transfer from the airport than Costa teguise. At the time you want to go you should get a package at a good price as you're not near any school holidays and the end of april, beginning of may usually has some good late deals. I would price SC and All inc and see what the difference is if its only about £10-£15 a day i'd do the all inc and still get out and about.0

Have only been to Costa Teguise but it is known as " Breezy Teguise " and i know why,it was very windy every day and although the sun shone brightly the cold wind spoilt the holiday for me but that is only my opinion.

Puerto del Carmen is the busiest resort, followed by Costa Teguise and Playa Blanca is the quietest. It's also slightly more upmarket and doesn't have so many Brit/Irish bars and restaurants as Costa Teguise.
I've no idea what your 18yr old is in to, but there are some watersports on the Dorada beach. There's bars with music in the Papagayo Centre. Jungle is always popular. There's also a 12D cinema in the Papagayo Centre and bowling in the newly refurbished centre at the Marina Rubicon.
There's no shortage of good restaurants, and there's also bars in the Limones Centre down by the ferry port and on the main street. Personally I wouldn't touch AI in Lanzarote. The restaurants are great, and the local economy is really suffering down to the number of people going AI and hardly spending any money on the island. It's also not without it's fair share of complaints about food quality etc.
My son loved Playa Blanca when he was around that age, but he used to take a friend and we hardly ever saw them (other than when they wanted someone to buy them dinner before disappearing for the evening lol).0
