I have received a County Court Claim Form and have responded asking for the 14 day extension and have over the past few days been compiling a response. Over the year and a half period that correspondence with UKCPS has been ongoing I have followed the advice on this forum to the letter, or at least I thought I had, but I have never issued what I see being referred to as a ‘part 18’. Can anybody kindly refer me to where I can research information on this and answer at what stage should I have written this and will the fact I have not requested further information weaken my defence?

I don't know the answer to your question, but you can buy the Parking-Prankster's guide to court for a few quid from his blog site. I'm led to believe it is very good.
There is also information about dealing with court in the NEWBIES thread.

You do not have to write one but it can be useful if you have been given vague info (before defending a claim):

But if plenty of correspondence has been exchanged you may decide not to give them the chance to add to their case. That BMPA link has lots of info, not just about part 18 requests.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
