O/S Daily Saturday 2 April 2016
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.
Morning everyone
Judi, hugs x
Hugs to those that want/need them x
Happy Birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light, cloudy but dry and not so cold. Got a load of washing line dried yesterday.
Did get the chores I wanted to done yesterday, and I made a jam and cream victoria sponge, dozen mince pie and a dozen jam tarts - menfolk happy but they've made a dent in them already! Cake was rather delicious - had to try a small slice - only for quality control of course! Dinner last night was gammon, I bought a joint when shopping yesterday, cooked it, and served it with eggs and chips for the menfolk, I had jacket potato and eggs with mine. We're going to be out all day today and are eating out with friends for lunch before we go to the caravan meeting this afternoon.
DS2 came in from work last night and said he'd been told by 2 of his colleagues that 1 of the lads who he used to play rugby with in this team had passed away. We did a bit of digging about (social media etc) and unfortunately it seems it's true, so sad he was 20 years old, apparently he slipped in the shower hit his head and he's been in a coma and he passed away on Wednesday, so sad for his friends and family. This year seems to be a never ending list of people passing away.
Keep safe and well x

I've been awake since 5 but stayed in bed until 7 as I'm feeling lazy today.
The fish have been fed and hubby has a cuppa, I shall browse online and plot my response to SS.
Have a great day everyone.

redruby I love that you've taught Evie to ring a bell when she needs to go out, I'm going to steal that ideaScampi lets me know by standing in the doorway of whatever room I'm in - even if he's sat with me he goes over to the doorway - and quietly whimpering, which is fine most of the time but if the door is closed (bathroom and bedroom doors are always closed) I don't hear him so he pees in the kitchen. I often see a retired Italian man and his dog in his front garden when we're out for a walk, we always have a little chat. We started talking about gardens and he invited me in to see his new fruit trees. I felt like I'd stepped into a little Italy, it was fab. A large pergola, grape vines, fruit trees, veg patch and a few flowers. He doesn't like the flowers but his wife insisted, lol. He'd rather fill the garden with fruit. There was a nice painted shed, I commented on it and he said he'd built it himself out of pallets. Inside was full of jars of preserved food and a fridge for their wine, he's used pallets to build a fence too - “oh I don't like to pay for anything”. My kind of people, lol. My imagination was on overdrive when I got home and I stared into my garden, mentally rearranging things and planning new stuff
This week, Scampi has trained meThere's a house down the road with a pug who sits in the window and barks at anyone who walks past. Scampi always barks back so I used the usual treats and mindless chat to distract him but it wasn't working. The other day as we got close to the barky house he sat down facing the road. I wasn't about to be told when to cross the road! So I tried to carry on but he wouldn't budge, I gave in and crossed. He always walks on my left, once we'd crossed the road he swapped sides to my right so I automatically told him 'back round with me'. He did but then swapped again, four times. I couldn't be bothered to argue with him so I left it and he walked nicely (and quietly) next to me. When we were past the house he went back to his usual postion. Thought nothing of it til he did the same thing on our next two walks, then I realised he was sorting the problem himself – clever boy

It's raining here, I haven't checked the forecast but the whole sky is dark grey so it'll probably stay the same all day. There's always a plus side – rain means no cats will be out so our walk will be uneventful
I've taken the lids off the propagators, the tomato plants are looking good. I'm going to have to put some little sticks in for support, a few have shot up a bit too quickly. They've got proper leaves now and although they're still small, the plants are leaning a bit. Apart from that, I'll just be pottering about today.

Morning everyone,
Bit dull here today but dry and we should get better weather later.
Got most of my errands done yesterday, printed off a £10 Mr Sparks voucher so went in there and stocked up on veg etc, only had 22p left to pay :T have taken some chicken out the freezer so we will have Harissa chicken tonight with quinoa. Have cancelled going round to a friends tonight as we were all going to have Chinese takeaway and less than a week into my diet didn't think would be good idea. My tummy is already feel a lot flatter so hopefully we are going the right way.
Went over to see Bill in the afternoon, boy is he shedding hair, being a bit of a windy day it was blowing everywhere, took me ages to find and sweep it all up but guess that counts towards fat burning activity :rotfl:
Tru clever dog Scampi, you two clearly have a very good connection and are in tune.
My thoughts are with Judi and Gers.
Take care everyone and have a good day x0 -
Morning All
The rain yesterday was epic, typical start to the holidays! This morning it is dry but very overcast, probably more rain to come.
HH - I'll be there with my handbag too and I carry a very big bag! What a shocking SW, make sure any correspondence is copied to their superiors, your Councillor and anyone else you feel should know about this. You are doing far more than is expected of anyone, I wish you well in your fight back.
Judi - Hugs to you love, take your time to greive.
Going to pop over to DDs later, I got her a bathroom cabinet from Freegle so I'll see what she thinks of it (and if it will fit!). She will probably need to do some shopping too. Apart from that the day is free, must do some housework and sort out some things to take to DS2s.
Have a good weekend. Take care. XX0 -
Morning all, I've only just caught up on the latter part of yesterday's posts so only just seen JUDI's post. I am so very sorry JUDI, may your dear mom rest in peace now. I hope the funeral arrangements go according to your mum's wishes, without the intervention of your DB and GF x
HESTER, glad SS haven't knocked the fighting spirit out of you and good for you not taking it lying down. That particular SW's attitude should not be overlooked.
A pretty boring day ahead for me doing the Friday clean! Yes, I know it's Saturday but we had the DGD's all day yesterday till 6.00 so, obviously nothing else got done! As usual, I was left shattered and spent the evening dozing!
I almost stuck to the BSD yesterday but, sadly, a lonely piece of pizza left on the serving plate after lunch had a note on it saying "eat me", so I did! Aaaargh no willpower! Will try and make amends today!
Have a good day all (((HUGS))) where wanted/needed, especially CANDLELIGHT and GERS. Take care all xxx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Good morning all .
Thinking of Judi , Candlelight and Gers . I didn't realise you were doing the flight to Dubai alone . I am glad you arrived there and will have company on the rest of the journey . Hoping all goes well , will keep you in my thoughts x
Thanks Nmlc for todays thread . Such sad news of your sons friend - so young .
Aod I hope you get well soon , it does seem to be hanging on .
Hester Make sure to get some rest . You'll need all your strength for the challenge ahead . I agree with Camelot , I was going to say the same about copying in all relevent parties .
Tru I do enjoy the Scampi stories . He sounds so intelligent you both seem perfectly matched .
TA beware the eat me note ! Like you I am about to start the Friday clean a day late .
A wet and quite cold day today . Glad the laundry was done a couple of days ago . I woke at 5 this morning and couldn't get back to sleep , have drunk too much tea since then so need to get stuck in and crack on .
Take care all

There but for fortune go you and I.0 -
Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Its raining here, will be off in a few minutes to take OH to get his tooth out he broke a few weeks ago. He has his monitor on, we have to take it back tomorrow.
We had a long trip yesterday almost 100 miles in total by the time we got back, but we managed to get everything done we wanted to. I put fuel in the car at Tesco it was £1,01 a litre, so it had gone up a couple of pence since the last time I filled the car up.
Offsky for now, may be back later.0 -

Tru and Clifsgirl, steal away ! google Clix toilet training bells this is what I got but you could make your own, and there are loads of you tube videos etc which teach you how to do it, its great once they got it and can 'tell' you once they want to go out.
Tru I love the sound of your Italians garden !
Morning all,
Nice bright day here, dd is up and is the shower she is off to work today which will be busy due to the weather, she is also off out tonight so only OH and I here for dinner, might suggest a walk up the pub with Evie for a drink.
Not sure about dinner tonight OH can cook, Ive done it all week and tbh Im feeling a bit run down so he can do it, Ive also woken with a really sore eye and back ( I may be falling apart)
Got a load in the wm and another to go in, will hang them all on the line today, need to pop to a shop for a few bits and then take the bear for a walk.
This afternoon I am going to have a nap to see if I can get some energy back.

Have good days all xx0
