Hi everyone.
I have been having a few major issues with my barclays account, and having called barclays on many occasions over the last few months Im still being treated really poorly and still have no real solution.
I will try and explain in a snapshot the issues I have been facing.
So the issue started in January 2016 when I noticed my account was around £40 less than it should have been with no transaction record for it.
I called barclays customer service and they advised me there was 2 pending transactions one for £19.99 and the other for £19.50
The two companies in question were mango money and LDS credit desk.
So i said to barlcays that I didnt recognise either of these companies and I wanted to report fraud.
Some agents advised me that it must have been me who made the payments, and others said to contact the companies in question.
So I called both companies and it turned out there the same company, and they are registered at a PO Box in london.
So both companies said they offered credit checking services that you pay for every month, I said ive never signed up for the service and asked for a refund, they said sorry and said they processed a refund.
So I went back to barclays and said I wanted the transactions reporting for fraud, they said they couldnt until they had hit my account and asked me to call back in a couple of days.
So 2 weeks passed and still no news and still no transactions had hit my statement, so on the 13th of February I made another call to barclays to be told it was strange that the company hadnt claimed the money and the amounts were due to run out on the 14th of February and that they should go back into my account.
The following day still no tranactions had hit my account, So I had to call again and explain the situation again and still nothing.
So about a week later I received a letter from the barclays fraud team to ask about 6 transactions in total, 4 of which were my payments I had made, and 2 of which were the ones which still hadnt hit my statement and barclays asked me to flag which were correct and which were fraudulent, which I did.
Then around 2 weeks after this towards the end of February my account ended up around £300 overdrawn even though I had no agreed overdraft.
So I called barclays again, as so far out of the 10 or so barclays agents I had dealt with no one could explain what was going on.
Then finally I got through to an agent who managed to piece together what had happened.
The short version is that even though I had been trying to report fraud on my account, the fraud team had already spotted it, but had flagged more than 2 transactions, and instead had flagged some of my own transactions, the reason I was overdrawn was because the fraud team had refunded the money for all 6 earlier in the month without my knowledge and without any log of this on my account either, apart from a balance change.
So he transferred me through to someone who seemed a lot higher up in barlcyas than anyone I had spoken to before, he dealt with the issue pretty well as at the time I didnt have any access to my current wages as the £300 removed had put me into an un arranged overdraft and no way of accessing my finances.
So even though it felt to me and the adviser that barclays had made some errors, there was nothing he could do apart from forcing me into collections and making an agreement of £20 per week to pay the debt amount off, and in the meantime putting in a complaint as he felt barclays were at fault in this situation.
Now if im honest at that point I didnt want to complain, as I had honestly had enough of dealing with it and just wanted to move on.
So for the last 4 weeks or so my account has had an overdraft of £300 reducing by £20 every week, today my account balance was -£137 so I tried to make a payment, it declined, i tried again and again it declined.
So I looked at my online banking and the £230 overdraft now showed as £10
I again called barclays today had to go through all of this again with the agent, I explained everything again, he then phoned collections, they denied all knowledge of ever setting up such an agreement or any overdraft.
I asked the agent "how was I able to take out money for the last few weeks"
He repied "I dont know"
I asked well look at my March the 15th statement, it states there that an agreed overdraft is in place, he said "oh yes I can see that now"
That statement really confused me and I told him "why can you see that now I have pointed it out on a statement, but you couldn't before"
I then asked, "ok so if the collection team has no record, were did the agreed overdraft come from on my statement"
He replied "I dont know, and that he needs to put a complaint in as he said it was clear barlclays had mis managed my account"
He then said it could take up to 8 weeks, So I asked how will I get access to my money in the meantime, and he replied "you cant"
I asked to speak to his manager, he asked her and she said "no"
I asked him did he feel as if I had been treated unfairly, he very quietly replied "yes"
I said is there anything you can do too help, he said "no" and then hung up the phone
Please can anyone help me make sense of what and why this is happening, and if there is anything I can do, as the basics of it is, I cannot access my money at all

Why the secrecy ?
The thread looks disjointed otherwise.
Keeping everything in the thread may be useful to someone else.0 -
What actually happened then?
From the sound of it they refunded money from 6 transactions without you knowing so you spent the money thinking it was yours?. You then said 4 transactions were correct so they paid those which left you £300 overdrawn?.0 -
