Historic PPI reclaims - advice required please

Hello,
I am a newbie ! .. This may be a long shot - but any advice would be useful.

I took out Finance on a Ford car in 2001 - and it would have covered payments for the next 3-4 years. Unfortunately I have no paperwork - is there a possibility to do a PPI reclaim ?

Also, similarly, my wife took out a mortgage in 1999 with Abbey ; but we have no paperwork- again is there a way to check for a possible PPI reclaim ?

If there is a chance how would I do this ?

Thanks for any advice

Probably no chance on the car because the dealer who sold you the PPI would not have been regulated and can simply dismiss your complaint without looking at it.

Even if you did have ppi, you can't simply reclaim it.

You would have to show why you believe it was mis-sold. What provable reasons do you have from so long ago?

There is normally nothing wrong with mppi on a mortgage.

Who was the PPI with? (abbey's own product or third party product)
Who was it sold by? (mortgage brokers do most mortgages in the UK)
What is your reason for complaint? (most MPPI complaints fail. It has less issues than loan or credit card PPI)
