Avoiding 1st direct fee with a joint account

Options
Hi in a couple of months we will reach our 6mth point with our JOINT first direct current account and will need to pay the £10 fee. How can we avoid this? Can we open a Joint savings account? Or a joint something or other to avoid the fee? Thank you in advance.

Do what I do, open an e-savings account. An e-Savings account is considered a "special" product which makes the account fee free.

I've had a First Direct account for many years, and currently there is only 3p in the e-savings account, however the fact that I have it means the account is Fee Free. I'm therefore able to make use of the Regular Savers that First Direct has.

Therefore - open a (joint) e-Savings account, be fee free.

Hi I have read the T and C's but got confused by the must savings must be same names etc so wanted to know if I could open a joint savings account. Looking at the info on first direct site I couldn't find if I could. Like most we only have the account for access to the Reg saver.

A sole savings account would waive the fee on the joint 1st Account wouldn't it?...just like a sole credit card (because you can't have a joint credit card) or motor insurance taken out in one account holders name does.

But reading the FD T&Cs, if a savings account is only available in sole names it clearly says so, eg the Bonus Saver and Regular Saver. The Savings Account has no such "must be in your sole name" condition. So if you want a joint account, then that's the one to go for isn't it?

Thank you,yo have probably understood the T and C's better than me. Will call them and ask suppose would be the easiest thing to do. Was wondering if that's what others had managed to open a joint savings for this purpose.
