Not sure about BOS but you can get a paying in book and envelopes which enable you to deposit at the Post Office, if that helps.

Thanks Darren, PO east and west within a mile with good bus service, nearest BOS is a mile+ south with a double bus connection. Easy enough when in town as several branches, but rarely in town.

Will call and ask for pay in book and specifics on delays compared to BOS pay in...if I can in actual fact pay in at BOS.

    Ta :)

I would take the assumption that you can pay into a halifax account in a BOS branch, as we can accept credits into and out of a BOS account in a Halifax branch.

As I don't live in Scotland, and the nearest BOS branch has closed, I don't know but I am able to transact online between my BOS and Halifax accounts with one log on, as you have other bank accounts Diamonds, wouldn't it be easier to pay into one of those and then transfer to BOS online?, especially with your health and the issue with the location of the nearest BOS branch.

    Thanks.

I did not think about depositing a cheque with my Reward as I rarely get them but DVLA are sending a refund because they are incompetent (outsourcing eh!) and they missed a processing date and its a refund and redo . Ironically at mine or dads when caring BOS is nearest to both.

As Darren says PO day to day I think :) Unless PO processing of a cheque is much longer and I will do a trip to town to BOS as it is actually easier than two buses to the local BOS at dads.

Thanks to both of you :) Kind of got sidetracked by £5 reward not considering all them approx 1/2 cheques per annum lol

The post office service requires registration and special envelopes and paying in slips sent to you so yes a cheque credit using the Post Office system does take longer then using a banks branch counter/Paying in Machine.

You could always but the cheque in the post if you cant get to a branch? with your account number on the back, or give it to another person to pay into your account for you.

Your dad maybe? it doesnt have to be you paying in the cheque, as long as the person who is has your sort code and account number, or its written on the back of the cheque.

    lots of options.

Yes, I was just thinking of another option, me and pops have the exact same initials, first, middle and surname. But the RBS is intown same as the easy access BOS.

Oh BOS have pay in machines, I will try a trial run with H card next time I am in town after my PIN comes 7 weeks later. Will use PO to pay in cash if needs be, cheque at branch/dad as well more PO clearance time is just lost interest :rotfl:

BOS cards dont work in Halifax Immediate Deposit Machines (IDM) so I would take the assumption again that your Halifax card wont work in the BOS IDM, you will need to go to the counter to pay in the cheque. IDM's dont need a pin number so if you hold a BOS card you can use it without one, just need the card.

You mention you may pay the cash into the Post Office, do you mean into your Halifax account? as you will still need the paying in slips and the envelopes to do this too, its not just the procedure for cheques,

If you are going into the BOS branch pay the cash in at the same time as the cheque.

Yes I intend to call Halifax on a non Sunday to request the PO stuff, I gathered cash may be the same already or chip n pin like others and was going to get for cheque anyway so even with cash I would be covered if not C&P.

Well looks like a counter at BOS if needs be branch anytime, which is a minor nothing :)

Lloyds has a post office webpage page, Halifax not - a PDF on current A/Cs refers to such, BOS nothing, PO site has best details for all 3.

Quite pathetic the whole group does not have individual or a shared page with the info on PO banking. Certainly Google could not find them. And its Google!
