solar powered water pump
Does anyone have any experience of these?
We have looked at:

and

We were thinking that one would be useful when we are away - but it is a bit expensive just for that.
However, we are on metered water, and could put this in a stream that runs through our garden (Environment Agency will allow, so that's not an issue)
Our veggies are mostly grown in raised beds, which can get very dry - which is why we were looking in the first place.
However, we don't know anyone who has tried one! Thanks in advance

How far is the stream from the furthest point you need the water?
Height from the stream to the highest point that you need the water?
200L of water typically lasts 3 weeks, Less than 10L a day for your entire patch?
Taking water from a stream is a minefield one of the eco shows on TV had issues with that. Turned out to take water from the stream they needed approval and to pay a fee.
Your probably better off getting some waterbutts and stick them on stands and drip feed by gravity.

Thanks - we already collect our rainwater in a harvester.
We have checked our specific stream with the Environment Agency, and the amount we can extract without a fee.
Our patch is small, which is one reason I'm unsure about the cost. ATM I simply dip buckets in the stream, but don't want to ask anyone to do that whilst we're away.0
