Switching bank accounts

Me & the fianc! are creating a joint account to make things a bit easier for ourselves having just bought our house. At the moment we are both with Halifax & have been for 10 years.

We are happy with the service & our mortgage & saving account is with them too.

The only reason we would go with someone else is for the switching bonus you get. Is this a good enough reason to switch?

You can set up new accounts, specifically for the purpose of switching. Search the forum for 'donor' accounts.

As to savings: there are loads of better places than Halifax. Check out the MSE article on best savings accounts.

I can think of another very good reason to have an account with someone else:cool:.

You and your fiance may have escaped any system/IT/ATM etc failures experienced by many over recent years. One way to avoid having no access to any of your accounts, is to have them with more than one bank (or banking group):)
