British Gas online Accounts
The whole purpose of British Gas's online statement of customer's account is to confuse the user.
I used to have a an Electricity Account and a Gas Account. These were serviced with separate monthly direct debits. British Gas in their wisdom decided to combine the two accounts and call it the Energy Account. When you go to the Energy account it shows a debit balance.When you click Manage the Account and then history of payments you are presented with a balance sheet. This shows the debits and payments in the account. At the top of the account it states a debit balance and then right at the top a credit of a payment received, which has not been deducted from the total amount due. The amount of the debit balance is the same as the amount shown when you first go to the Energy Account. When asked why the payment at the top had not been deducted from the amount totally in debit I was informed that this amount applied to the Gas Account only. Work that one out!
The statement of account word balance denies the meaning of words.
