Virgin One, still paying

Hi,
I used to have a VirginOne mortgage of about 12 years, about 4 years ago I moved and as part of that moved to First Direct.
I was looking through my Direct Debits the other day and did some digging about and found I was still paying £7.05 a month to Reassure which has a Virgin reference (it's not obvious on my statement).
Can I assume this is a PPI payment for the original mortgage. If so has anyone else claimed off of Virgin, should I contact Reassure and get them to stop taking the money or let it ride and cancel out as part of the claim.

You won't get a refund on the basis that you moved your mortgage to First Direct. Any residual insurance was your own responsibility to cancel.
Not checking your statements for four years could be an expensive mistake...0 -

No you cant assume that. For example, Reassure is a life assurance company dealing in life, pensions and investments. Not a general insurance company dealing with PPI.

From memory it was in the event of death it paid off the mortgage and was a 'requirement' by Virgin.
Either way I'm going to ask both Virgin and Reassure.0 -

That would make sense. It's life insurance designed to repay the mortgage in the event of your death.

That I was forced to take it, like I say from memory it was a 'requirement' and was told who to take it with. Does this qualify?0
