L Plates Motor bike / Scooter

Looking for some advise,

I have held a full Car driving licence for just over 30 years what is the highest cc motor bike or scooter that i can ride with L Plates.
Do you have to take some theory or training before you can ride with the L Plate's.
How long can you ride with L Plate's before having to take a test.

I'm trying to decide if it may be better to just get a 2nd car.

Any advise appreciated.

You have to take a CBT (Compulsory Basic Training) and then you can ride up to a 125cc motor bike on the road with L plates.

You can have lessons with an instructor on a 500cc motorbike, but you have to pass your test before you can ride this size bike on the road alone.

If you obtained your full car licence before 1 February 2001 you are automatically entitled to ride a moped without L-plates (D-plates in Wales).
If you obtained a full car licence after 1 February 2001 you must first complete a CBT course and obtain a DL 196 certificate to validate your entitlement.

    A moped is a 50cc restricted to 30mph

If you do a CBT you can ride a 125 that is under 11kw (ie most), but with L plates.
