Amazon delivered my goods to a neighbour

I'm not sure if theirs is the right place to post.

Amazon Logistics delivered some goods I'd purchased to a neighbour 3 doors down at the beginning of the week. I received a card through my door and an email advising me of where they had delivered to. I've knocked on the neighbour's door at least 6 times every day since then but there has been no response. I don't really know the people who live there and I'm wondering how long to leave it before I should contact Amazon to report that I have not received the goods I bought.

Does anyone know what I should do in this situation?

Perhaps write a note giving your phone number, asking them to contact you and give you a time to call and collect your parcel.

I was stopped on the street and asked by an Amazon courier to take in a parcel for a neighbour 10 houses up that I didn't know. I asked how they knew I was honest and he said he could tell by looking at me and he'd seen which house I'd come out if. So I signed for and took it, then told the courier I'd used a false name and was moving out that day. (None of whxh was true, but I'd have been annoyed if I was the owner of the parcel being left with a random stranger so I wanted to make the point.)
In future I plan to leave very specific instructions with my orders about where they can leave parcels. The system is open to abuse.

Just report it as undelivered, I had this issue before, they will send out another item.

Maybe they're at work when you call or work away during the week. I'd give it to the weekend then contact Amazon if no joy.

Doubtful they would just send out another without first checking. If the driver has marked it as signed for they'll want to be asking questions first.

Surely, it's better to try to sort it out with the neighbour first? The time to contact Amazon is if the neighbour denies any knowledge of the parcel, or ignores OP's note.
  • I've heard there's an app coming out or may even be out that will allow you message the customers services team of Amazon and other companies directly on your phone like using WhatsApp? Just a thought, but help to get a quick resolution.

    I read that.

I mean I read it on your other post saying how it would be a good idea. Is that where you heard it?

Wouldn't be easier if there was just an app to help this?

Literally one like a WhatsApp that just let you communicate directly with customer services teams of a range of different retailers. I mean it wouldn't completely negate the possibility of bad experiences, but would at least make contacting customers services more pleasant in my opinion!
