Advice on disability benefits.

Hello,I am receiving Income support and DLA(at the lower rate).I have been told that I should get a bit more help than I am at the moment.
I have type 2 diabetes, dilated cardiomyopathy and 4 fused vertebrae in my lower back.I am in pain all of the time from either my back or heart and back and forth to the hospital regulary.
I just need to know what to apply for and a bit of help filling in the forms.
Thank you....
Dont have pc at home using my mates so might not be able to reply right away....

    Hi.
When my husband applied he was turned down flat so he appealed with the help of our G.P. who told him that genuine applicants often were turned down because they stuck too rigidly to their answers. He advised him to ask social services to send someone round to fill in the form as they know how to approach the form-filling.
He was excellent and guided my husband to say things that he didn't when he initially applied. As a result, he got the highest rate and has had a car for the last ten years and DLA for life.
    I hope this helps.

Perhaps you should think about trying to get a higher level of DLA. You can get help with this from Citizens Advice or other welfare benefits advisers. CAB will be able to tell you what they think your chances are of a higher award. Some CABx do home visits, it depends on the funding for your local bureau and how it is managed.

Are you claiming the travel to hospital? I think you can do that on IS, but not sure if it depends on your hospital or not.
