Yeah, plenty of slippage to be had in the MOJ budget!

Not a cheap point I hope, but a deadly serious one.
Some of our important public services are in big trouble, to describe the current level of cuts as "fannying around" is patently 'bollacks.“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0 -

deaths in public service are very rare and, as we do not know the circumstances, your point is indeed a cheap one.0 -

I don`t see why.
Deaths in prison custody are certainly not rare and are thanks to budget cuts growing exponentially. What used to be unheard of were homicides in prison. Not any longer, and the alleged incident at HMP Coldingley is an example of that.“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0 -
Lots of people die for lots of reasons.

This suggests a general trend of deaths in prison rising at a pretty steady rate since 1990 and there doesn't seem to be an exponential leap in the last few years at all. I assume the trend follows a similar trend in the increase in the prison population.
It also doesn't appear that homicides in prison used to be unheard of and are now common.0 -
aren't we in deficit in terms of tourism and of associated shopping?
I don't know but when I read that London was the worlds highest non food retail spending city I was quite surprised.
Maybe we go to cheap countries like Spain and Turkey and spend modest sums eating out and buying gifts and the Arabs and Chinese and whoever else is rich come to London and buy multi thousand pounds suits watches cars rugs bags whatever and spend tens of thousands eating out or trowing parties?
I know one girl who works at Harrods and she says its not uncommon to have people come in and order over £20k worth of photography equipment as gifts for others. They won't know what they are buying and they just say I need want the best. In a lot of the cases it's about spending at least x on the gifts rather than normal people who will have a budget and want to get value.
Maybe London needs to play up to this further with some government or Mayor support in some way. Make it like new York where people go a weekend just to do shopping.0 -

Self-inflicted deaths and homicides look to be rising at a exponential rate to me. What am I missing?“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0 -

Safe, decent and secure prisons are a political choice I agree.“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0
