  • Hello,

So all has been a little bit stressful recently which ofcourse has reflected on my spending. Although I never dwelling has a positive impact so I'm going to list the positives instead

    - I have got a little payrise frm my 2nd job
    - I have blocked out some weekends in December as doing nothing which will save money!
    - I have done lots of batch cooking which will sve me lots of money

Honestly thinking of leaving the gym - I dont use it enough to justify it. Might wait until I have done the half marathon.

I ave defo overspent this month although I did have a big expense which is what caused it.

10 days until pay day.....going to aim for as many no spending days as possible and luckily no socialsing planned!

Which half marathon are you doing little birdie? Which gym are you with?
    debts 16550
    Mortgage 69500
  • Hi birdie

What part of London do you live in? What areas do you usually meet up with your friends in when you go out for meals?

I'm in London too and can agree that when I first moved there is definitely a stage when you are out all the time!

I have got a lot of my friends into the MSE way now and if we do go out for food it is with a discount of some kind - Groupon voucher, Vouchercloud app or O2 Priority.

Hey, so good to hear from other Londoners....we all hav an understanding of the expensiveness :rotfl:

I live in South London which is really expensive! Thankfully the dinner phase has now ended and I have started saying no! Thats great that your friends are money saving - some of mine are and some of mine arent - thats life I guess!
Yes I am too into money saving vouchers for meals out, the only thing is it gets a bit repatitive!

December is looking a lot more quite :)

  • So I've woken up this morning and I've decided I need to stop moping around and get a grip :j

    Things I am frustrated with

Work not paying for the course
I need to see this as a good experience and will benefit me in the long run. Although I'm defo not going to do any others! I've made a budget to account for it. I'm not going to save any emergency money next month which will account for it.

    Eating too much
I dont know what has come over me but I'm snacking like there is no tomorrow! So I've downloaded an app to track what I'm eating. I dont like doing this as it can someones feel very restrictive but I think if I just do until I feel back to the normal little old me it should be fine.

    Overdraft
Sooooo I'm hoping to have it paid off my bithday month which is February! I really hope I can do it. I can't wait till pay day to pay a bi chunk off. This overdraft has been hanging over my head for just too long! My 2nd job seems to have slowed down but I think that's not a bad thing. There has to be some enjoyment in life!

Been reading Martin's post on not bing able to let go of soemthing and it's really made me think about my gym membership. I joined becuse I thought I would love it as much as I used to but turns out I prefer running much more now so I don get the same enjoyment out of it. The thing is I still dont want to leave it. Hmm I think I'm going to leave it this month.

I think the important thing to remember is whilst things dont seem the greatest now, its all going in the right direction.

I've also sold something on eb@y. Only 0.99p but I overpriced the packaging so made a little bot of a profit there. I've also got a ring that I dont want to sell but yet I never wear....I'm going to think about selling it. I'm also going to sell a few other bits.

In terms of food the freezer is all stocked up! Not food that massively excites me but hey ho!

I'm going to read some other diaries also to give me a bit of motivation!

  • A little update

So the other day I paid a whoping £800 off my overdraft . Its now down to £684 and then with my £476 in savings it means that I onl have around £200 left to pay. So that means JUST.ONE.MORE.MONTH

I also hae a healthy (well for me anyway!) in

Then I can start 2017 with starting to pay into a mortgage.

    I can't believe it

This month I really want to stay in budget so that I dont need to dip into my emergency savings. Last month I did go into my overdraft though for the first time ever. I went in around £70. I had an extra £24 from work. The chances of saving £50 around christmas time are slim but it is beter to strive towards reducing it rather than increasing it.

    Aims for December
Do not buy a new toothpaste - use all the mini ones I have and pick any freebies from the dentist when you go (every little helps :rotfl:) If buying any makeup use points card Stay within my £130 food shop budget REALLY IMPORTANT: Cancel gym membership (yup still havent built up he courage to leave the thing I never use :rotfl: Dont go crazy at the christmas party wih alcohol hah

Thats all I can think of now - wish me luck

Wow - you are doing phenomenally. What a way to finish the year :j

Mortgage news is very exciting- I'm mega impressed if you've saved enough to manage a London-sized one (or have I got the wrong end of the stick?)

Good luck (not that you'll need it) - and looking forward to seeing your endeavours in 2017 :)
