Question regarding van warranty

Bought a Renault van 2 months ago from a Renault dealer. It was 6 months old.
I have noticed the sliding side door doesn't seem to close flush. There is a slight protrusion in panels when shut.

I have booked in for a recall on another matter and asked them to have a look at the door whilst in.

I am asked to pay £90 upfront for an hours work to assess the door, just incase it is not covered under warranty. If it is then I will have money refunded. If not the £90 will go towards the repair.

Obviously it would be better to take it back to where I purchased from, but that is over 200 miles away. I didn't spot any problems with door when I bought it and I have certainly not done anything to it to affect it.

Question is, do you think this would be covered under warranty? and is the charging of money upfront normal?

    Depends on what the cause of the fault is. Loose bolt or something accidently
    shut in the door whilst closing it?

    If it's not a warranty issue - then of course there'll be a charge, and an hour's labour is hardly unfair.

    If you have damaged it you can't really expect them to diagnose it for free.

    You could say thanks for telling me the problem, I'll fix it myself.
