Confused. Does no fault claim effect my No Claims

Hi

I'm a bit confused. A lorry hit my car in April. He claimed all responsibilty. His company contacted mine to say they would pay for all damage and even waived any excess I had. The insurance campany wrote to me confirming this and said this would then mean it didn't effect my no claims, which was protected as well. Now I might be being a bit stupid here, but this was my first ever claim, when it comes to renewing my insurance I know I have to declare a claim but do I get to keep my no claims discount still?

Many Thanks in advance

Yes, you get to keep your no claims (whether it's protected or not).
You have no made a claim against your own policy.
You have made a claim against a 3rd party.

You should however answer all questions honestly.

Your NCD will be OK, but your premium may up though, as statistically in the eyes of Ins. Cos. you're more likely to claim in the future.
  • Thanks for the help.

Thought it might go up, have to keep my fingers crossed on that one. But basically I admit to the accident but that I've had no claims. Just want to make sure I get it right.
