Hi
Looking for some advice, my car is due its 2nd service with Hyundai, they are charging £189 for a service which IMO is a rip off! I can go locally and save alot doing it.
Does anyone know if I do choose to take it to a independent garage does it void the warranty?
Thanks

Not if they use approved parts and service it in line with manufactures guidelines.
Your anti corrosion warranty maybe harder to claim on if you need to.0 -
A full main dealer history will make the car more desirable when you sell it. Also if in the future if you have an out of warranty claim and are looking for a goodwill gesture from Hyundai a main dealer history will help.0

as its a hyundai i seriously suggest you let them service it for long term sanity reasons0

the 5 yr warranty may well be voided by going non franchise.
For me there would be too many caveats to risk it:

Any independent garage worth its salt is going to charge you £100+ for a proper service and checks.
Are you really going to risk invalidating your warranty or not getting the latest software updates applied or not getting a financial contribution from Hyundai out of warranty or getting less for your car come resale time for the sake of a few ££?0 -
In theory it should not void the warranty - but in reality you would then get zilch co-operation and no goodwill whatsoever.
Added to the other points raised above, you would be pretty foolish to take the car anywhere other than a franchised Hyundai dealer.
£189 is not at all a rip-off, by the way.0 -
Cheers all, in the end just went with them. Thanks for your replys0

which model is it?
i used to pay around £130 for the basic service (oil + filter change, on the i10, this was around 2010/11
add break fluid it was around £180.
anyway whilst a car is in warranty i recommend using main dealer to avoid them wriggling out of any claims, ie they cant make any excuses, eg wrong oil or oil filter used etc
as others have said in the long run for piece of mind stick with main dealer, until warranty is over0 -
When I had my Picantos second service done at Kia, the dealer noted that the previous service had used a non standard filter, it was a Bosch, they also lied that it was loose and mentioned that a non standard battery had been fitted, this was a brand new one fitted before purchase as I assume the battery had died as the car was SORNed in November and bought in February.
We're these two comments and attempt to invalidate my 5 years Warranty?
Who knows, their choice as that is two services a year for 5 years this particular dealer has cost themselves. Strange behaviour really as I have personally bought 3 brand new cars from this dealer since 99, a Seat Toledo and two Subarus, all three of which were only ever serviced by them.
I would phone around nearby dealers for cheaper quotes, the second year service was £129, the first £99, so not sure what kind of saving the original owner made by going outside the Kia network.
Car has only done 8500 now, but will be doing 20k plus I suspect.
Not a huge problem if the warranty is voided, I will save a fortune doing my own servicing and never buy a Kia again, which I shall confirm in writing to Kia UK.
Plenty more manufacturers to chose from.
But Inwould stick with Main Dealer till the warranty finished to remove any doubts.
The interesting thing is the Main Dealer have used the cheaper oil option which is 5w30, they could have used 5w20, same oil as used in the Ford Ecoboost 1.0, which I suspect I will put in at 5k. Car is used mostly round town, with lots of idling and stop start.0 -

Glad my car doesn't have any of that expensive 'break fluid' then0
