They're all out this week. Must be school holidays or something.

I purchased a car in May last year from a dealer.

Since then I've done around 15k mileage but during that period the car has been in the garage 8+ times for different faults within a 10 month period. Each time they have repaired the car under the warranty but with that due to expire in May I am unsure as to whether I should keep the car.

Am I entitled to any form of compensation from the garage due to these constant faults or does the fact that they have repaired to car each time negate that? shall I just cut my losses and sell the car?

Also if I was to sell the car privately I am a little worried as to how hard it will be to sell the car privately with all the work that it has has done in a short period of time? I think it may put prospective buyers off the car?

What's the car/age/mileage/value and what have the faults been ? Not a chance you're going to get a refund/compensation but there may be suggestions on how to mitigate your future losses

But what other options do I have apart from sell it or keep it?
Leave the spare keys in the ignition overnight?
    Torch it?

You have an eight year old car. It's had some relatively minor problems which the supplier has fixed under their one year warranty.

    It isn't red.

    It's a dark colour.

    Not that that matters.

If selling privately, you are under no obligation to declare any faults or work done under your ownership-you are simply obliged to be truthful, should the potential buyer ask you any questions. As we hear so frequently on here, many do not bother to ask and then expect to get compensation for a fault they find out about later-no case.

I bet it's a diesel being bodged along until out of warranty.

You could part-ex it for another car?

Part ex, trade sale, ebay (list all faults). I assume you have receipts for everything so just leave it with the car paperwork and invite any buyer to see the paperwork.

I've always been brutally honest when selling my cars (and I go through a lot) as I believe in treating others how you would want to be treated.

I've had most success selling on ebay, I usually start with 30day fixed price, if it doesn't sell you get a free relist so I do that but change to auction.
