Can I uninstall Windows Edge?

A friend recently bought a Windows 10 tablet.

He wasn't impressed with the original browser, Windows Edge, so I installed Google Chrome for him.

Obviously, being a tablet, storage is limited, so having two browsers installed, doesn't help.

Can Windows Edge be uninstalled?

    Thanks for that.

Is here anything that can be removed, to free up some space?

Currently, the C Drive has 18.7GB free, from a total capacity of 28.7GB.

Also, now that Google Chrome is installed, in addition to the Desktop shortcurt, there's a small version of the Chrome Browser (about 1/3rd the width and 1/4 the height of the screen), sitting on the Desktop, which I can maximise by touching the +, but can't close by touching the X.

Any ideas how to get rid of it?

The amount of storage taken by Edge within the whole OS is likely not worth worrying about. You still have 65% free storage.

I imagine most if not all Windows 10 tablets have a micro SD slot. Splashing out around £7 should buy an extra 32GB disk space and £15 would get 64GB.

I have no idea at all what the small chrome window may be or what the + is. All of my windows have a square to maximise them. What happens if you maximise it then hit Alt-F4?

Just checked with him, and the small browser window is gone.

Will have to wait and see if it comes back.

On the down side, when he switched the tablet on, this morning, it had switched itself back to tablet mode.

Any ideas how to keep it in desktop mode?

The options are in system settings/tablet mode
  • Cheers kwikbreaks. That seems to have sorted it. :T
