Thin Credit History, Score of 330?

I recently got rejected from my first ever credit card application so i thought i would dig into my credit history a little and I have a few questions.

My entire credit history consists of:
1 settled credit agreement, opened then settled the next month
1 open credit agreement for my bank, up to date for just over two years
1 open credit agreement for a bill, up to date for just under a year
an 'orange' electoral roll warning, because I am registered, but only recently.

Nothing else. This all seems good to me, although the history isnt long, nothing is bad.

My Credit Score of 330 from Equifax seems very low considering, or am i missing something?
Whats the best way to go about building a credit history so I can get a credit card? I earn good money and have fairly decent savings...
