Hello,
My SSP is ending today with the final payment is coming this Friday, Yesterday 29/03 I phoned up to start my ESA claim, I had all the information they asked for and I also sent my fit note to the address they gave me at 12 noon that day.
I was just wondering what kind of timescale it will be from making my phone call yesterday to receiving my first payment?
I'm guessing a few weeks but not sure.

Your claim should be processed within about 10 working days of receipt. Your actual payment date depends on the last 2 digits of your National Insurance number. 00-19 is Monday, 20-39 Tuesday etc.0

Thank you, just to be clear will those ten working days be back paid or does the Benefit class as starting on the 10th working day after receipt?DMP - JAN 2016

Because you are claiming following SSP I don't think there are any 'waiting days', so you should be paid from the first day. If waiting days do now apply you won't get anything for the first 7 days, not 10 days.0
