Burlington - I suppose if it's an interest only mortgage it could take decades in some of the worst cases - but I'd it's a bog standard repayment mortgage then negative equity is only temporary0

I regret that I didn't buy a couple of cars when I had the opportunity.
The Lotus Cortina for £800 and the Escort Mexico for £1200 were a missed opportunity. I daren't google what they would be worth now.
I also regret not buying a car. It was a 1958 rag-top VW Beetle which had had everything done to it - dropped suspension, iridescent paint job, custom interior, powder painted engine, major engine upgrade, rear seats moved forward to accommodate the ridiculous sound system. The receipts for the work done was several thousand more than the asking price. I stupidly passed on it as I wouldn't have got over the speed bump at the bottom of my apartments parking garage.
I've now been vetoed from buying a ford mustang - I was excited when I found they were finally going to make a RHD version, but £1100 a year in road tax is a tad too much (actually a grand too much).
Ah well, looks like I am stuck with my boring Mummy Wagon. At least I got to drive around in a purple 1970 Dodge Charger (channeling Dukes of Hazard) in the dim and distant past.0 -
Things I did buy that I regret .... a couple of pairs of Ferragamo shoes which have been worn once as they cripple my feet. Price can't be disclosed as husband would have heart failure.0

I bought in 2007 for £160k, I just sold my house today for £141k after overpaying for years to get out of the negative equity, and raise enough equity to have a deposit to move. That doesn't include all the improvements I've had to do over the years too like boiler etcmichelle2008 wrote: »Burlington - I suppose if it's an interest only mortgage it could take decades in some of the worst cases - but I'd it's a bog standard repayment mortgage then negative equity is only temporary
So buying this house is my biggest regret. Not everywhere in the uk has recovered, and this area especially might not for another 10 years or more, I personally was not willing to get trapped here a second longer than I needed to. It would have been cheaper for me if I'd just rented all these years than what this house has cost me.MFW OP's 2017 #101 £829.32/£5000
MFiT-T4 - #46 £0/£45k to reduce mortgage total
04/16 Mortgage start £153,892.45
MFW 2015 #63 £4229.71/£3000 - old Mortgage0 -
Regret not buying brand new No. 10 Meccano Set for £50 in 1977. Being offered by a shop which had ceased selling Meccano. Unfortunately needed the money for impending wedding. Subsequent marriage lasted all of 3 years!! Meccano set probably worth about £2K now.If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

Oh my other regret is not buying a banksy rat sculpture for £50 when I was at uni, and before he was famous, as £50 seemed just to much to spend on art when I had no money.MFW OP's 2017 #101 £829.32/£5000

My dad regrets not buying a few cars in the past that are now worth a fair bit
the first being the Bmw E30 M3 now worth about £25,000+
and a few ford capri's that he had but sold now worth in excess of £6,000+
Me personally i regret not buying Bt shares when they dropped to around 0.80p a few years ago now worth about £4.40 per share
I could kick my self because i did buy some at that price but when the price dropped a little i panicked and sold them a few weeks later.“People are caught up in an egotistic artificial rat race to display a false image to society. We want the biggest house, fanciest car, and we don't mind paying the sky high mortgage to put up that show. We sacrifice our biggest assets our health and time, We feel happy when we see people look up to us and see how successful we are”
Rat Race0 -
My thought too - but then again, I have OCD tendencies and tend to see a 'proper place' for certain threads. Probably Discussion Time? This is a strange thread to start in the marriage Forum
but with it being here i suppose you must be referring to things like when i bought the missus.
One of the similar threads started by the OP has resulted in one poster getting rather a lot of stick over a (imho) innocent question.0 -

Snap! I bought in 2007 too and my house had lost a third of its value when I sold after five years. Cautiously optimistic about my current place, it's neither gained or dropped across 18m so vast improvement

Before employees were embargoed from share purchasing I could have bought shares at £3, knowing about a potential major company purchase. They then shot up to £20+
