I switched to SSE for my electricity supply over three months ago.
I did this via MoneySavingExpert.com Cheap Energy Club. One of the reasons for doing this, apart from a cheaper tariff, was cashback of £15 to be credited three months after switching.
The £15 hasn't been credited to my bank account yet. However, after reading this....
"Cashback is paid into your bank account around three months after switching, but it can sometimes take longer if your supplier is slow to confirm this to us. It will appear as "EnergyClubCashbk". If it has been over 6 months since your switch, let us know by emailing energyclub@moneysavingexpert.com and we'll follow this up for you".
....So, they advise you to leave it six months before contacting them about any cashback still not received.
However, I have received my first bill from SSE and they advise me they have notified Cheaper Energy Club of the successful switch, so I'm wondering if I should contact them now instead of letting the months possibly drag on.
What would your advice be?
Thank you.

SSE may have advised the CEC of a successful switch, but have they paid the CEC their commission yet???0 -
Hi whattochoose,
The cashback for switching is paid by MoneySuperMarket. As the cashback is funded by splitting the switch referral fee that is paid by SSE, MoneySuperMarket is unable to pass on the cashback until this fee is received. As soon as the fee is received, your Cheap Energy Club account will be updated and the cashback will be paid within the next week or so.
Normally this process takes around 3 months to complete, but the timelines do vary and sometimes may take a little less or a little longer, which is why we advise waiting 6 months.
I hope that helps.
