Personal Contract Hire with a 'FAIR' credit rating

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone with less than good/excellent credit has been approved for Personal Contract Hire on a car? I have spent the last 4 years trying to rebuild my credit score and knew this was working as I was accepted for a credit card and a Very account 2 years ago so have never really viewed my credit file since 2012. My car is looking like it is going to need a lot of work doing which due to the value of the car is really not worth it so I was looking at the possibility of personal contract hire. To save the embarrassment of sitting in front of a car dealer and getting turned down I viewed my credit file with Equifax today. This is telling me that my credit rating is fair (which I am over the moon with as in 2012 it was very bad) - the only negative factors are that there are 3 credit applications in the last 12 months. I have spoken to one of the car dealers on a live chat system to see if they can give me some indication of acceptance criteria but they said without actually applying they won't know (which I kind of gathered they would say) Has anybody been in a similar situation and what was the outcome?
Thanks in advance

It's easier to get finance secured on a vehicle, as the company has some collateral.0
