Economy 7 timer

Options
Have just moved in to a rented flat and have noticed that the sealed timer linked to the sealed electric meter is showing the wrong time. Basically looks like my lower tarrif is set for 9am to 4pm due to the incorrect time.

I'm told by my supplier I need to pay £60 to get it changed.

Am I correct in thinking that as I don't own the meter and timer, it is their responsibility to get it fixed

Any advice would be appreciated.

  • Hi,

you're still getting 7 hours of cheaper electricity and could be to your advantage, bet a lot of folk would rather have it during the day than night.

I'd keep quiet - it means most of your daytime leccy is cheap.

The storage heaters will still be nice and warm in the evenings. Your hot water will still be nice and hot in the evenings and you won't have to run the washing machine, tumble dryer or dishwasher overnight to maximise your off-peak consumption.

  • My economy meter broke a few years back and got stuck on day time, I think. A bit different to your situation, but I was with the Coop at the time and they didnt charge to fix it. But yours is still working at registering 7hrs so perhaps you have to pay to change the timing of the 7 hours.
