As I have 10,000 shares, they are a 'Silver rail Warrant' which does entitle people to travel the line. I don't quite understand how they can be 'shares' but have no commercial value.
As with anything up for sale, they're only worth what someone is prepared to pay for them - anyone interested in buying 10,000 shares can simply purchase directly from the company for £1,000 so obviously you'd need to be undercutting that notional value by some margin to achieve a second hand sale where there is no obvious market. To put the travel warrant benefit in perspective, it's two free return journeys, for which the normal price is £19 each....

To be fair, the share purchase application does state:
Members are advised there is no established market in the shares of the West Somerset Railway PLC and the Directors have no plans for making such arrangements. Members may independently transfer or sell their holdings at any time subject to the formalities regarding transfer being fulfilled. The company has no authority to repurchase a member’s share holding.

I'm still no wiser as to why a long, long time contributor to the forum reported me as a spammer?

I would guess the reason why is that the original wording of your first post in this thread violated one of the forum's rules. I have no doubt (having seen the original wording myself) that the forum admin would have deleted the whole thread if you had not changed it yourself.

I know that my father thought he was buying a share in something, but then he was a pensioner. I have discovered that they are not listed on any stock market, but for an enthusiast wishing to 'buy' the travel warrant perhaps. You can transfer the shares, but won't get much help from the 'friends' of WSR as they want you to just give them back. I suppose the bay is the place. If somebody knows the definitive status of these 'shares' I would appreciate a heads up. I'm still no wiser as to why a long, long time contributor to the forum reported me as a spammer? :(
(I'm going to give the unofficial forum a try)

Well if you ebay them post a link incase anyone is interested.
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)

I'm assuming that we cannot directly offer to sell something on this part of the forum? I couldn't actually find the pertinent rule and would have appreciated the learned member pointing me at the relevant rule rather than report the post as spam, which it patently was not, but hey, we all get our bad day's, maybe he was just taking a day off from being marvellous. First two rules of board etiquette:
    • Please be nice to all MoneySavers : There's no such thing as a stupid question and, even if you disagree, courtesy helps.
    • Please be sensitive : This may be a web forum, but you're still talking to other human beings. Repeatedly or harshly saying someone's wrong, especially on boards like DebtFreeWannabe, Bankruptcy or Benefits, can lead to upset.:A

Are outside links to for sale ads acceptable?

As you can't find it, here's a quote from the pertinent rule:

"we don't allow selling, trading, exchanging, or swapping, or giving gifts. Nor do we permit links to your eBay auctions, or other forms of advertising."

[P.s. I think diamonds was teasing you...]

I wasnt teasing at all, I actually did alert a mod to help :)

I was not sure about ebay but knew the rest.

I think users with a high X amount of posts should be a allowed access to a ebay, gumtree etc section, whats more money saving and eco friendly than matching items to site users with less risk than straight off these places from unknown people.

Yes, but that would only work for mse/ money supermarket if they could take a commission from your links. You're welcome to propose it to them.

Thanks diamonds. We live in a time when reading the terms and conditions would take us another full lifetime. I tend to read the rules after I've broken them then beg for forgiveness :p As they say; if all else fails, read the manual.
