Credit card protection - book individually or as group?

Hi all, quick question.
If booking flights for several people, does everyone get the same protection if the flights are booked at once on one single card as they would if they paid individually on their own cards? Or is there any any advantage to everyone paying for themselves on separate credit cards?

Thanks

what sort of protection...I think the only thing a credit card would cover is if the airline failed to provide you with a flight that you had purchased and was over £100
Most other eventualities would require travel insurance
  • well whatever protection that is offered when you book a flight by credit card. Does it apply to all passengers booked on one card, or do all passengers have to use their own cards? I'm assuming the former.

You need to be very careful, most card issuers will only protect the card holder and immediate family that they might be expected to pay for. If it is a group of friends, the card issuers take the view that they will be paying you after you have booked, so they haven't used a card for payment and they will not offer protection. That leads to the conclusion that if you are just friends and they are concerned about possible losses, they should book directly themselves.

If you are a large group booking with a low cost carrier, it may also have the consequence of some being able to buy the flight at a lower price, if you try and book 8 seats they will all be priced at the highest price, if there were 2 seats in a lower price bracket, the first two to book would get the best price if they book separately
