Well it's all over, I've just got back to work after spending all morning at Canterbury court.
It was all very stright forward and not at all scary, even though I was on the verge of tears this morning on my way there!
The guy called me into the little office and we went through the form I'd completed, a couple of things that needed adding like my middle name I'd forgotten and my addresses for the last 3 years I think. Signed my name a few times, handed over £485 then I had to go back out to the front desk (after tripping over the chair and nearly knocking myself out). At the front desk I had to sign another part of the form then read a declaration thing instead of swearing on the bible (I'm not religious). He told me to come back at 11.30 so I went upstairs to the canteen and read my book for an hour and a half. Then decided I liked the smell of the full english breakfast they were serving so treated myself to one... BUT I wouldn't recommend one if anyone is attending Canterbury, it was completely tasteless!!
Anyway went back at 11.30 and was called in with two others that were there and we all got our BR order and the guy explained what would happen next, then that was it... we were free to go!!
I don't feel any different yet, maybe later I will... I was told I should be able to keep my Nationwide account but he said it might be frozen for a couple of days and then unfrozen, bit worried as I have some direct debits possibly coming out this week, well at least one anyway! What do you think I should do?
Anyway thank you for all the support and advice I've received on here, I will be hanging around so will hopefully be able to help others too!

Well done MM - shame about the breakfast, though. :beer:I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

How do I become a member of the BCSC club? I take it that's something to do with going bankrupt?!0

Strange that - he was around a couple of weeks ago - perhaps his inbox is full. Maybe Richard_S can advise?
Hope that's not the end of the BCSC. :undecided :sad:I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.

Congratulations Miss Muppet
Doesn't it feel so much better now! ( Sorry about the breakfast - I can recommend the baguettes at my local cc if you ever drop in LOL)
The best bit comes now - when the creditors call - say "oh yes, glad you rang" - that will put them on their guard and worry them ... and then you give them all the info and add, "Now remember that means no more calls from you or letters ok or you are breaking the law" ... they grunt, they hate it but they cant do b all about it
Its wonderful my dear believe me!0 -
Hehe... yeah I can't wait for the first one to call! In fact as I was sitting in the court waiting I had a text from ARC (Egg) saying they need to speak to me urgently as they haven't received this month's payment!! I guarantee the first people to phone me though is the Halifax...

I am going on holiday (to Mum's) this weekend, do you know when the OR will ring for the initial call to set-up the interview? I am hoping it will be in the next couple of days otherwise I'll be in France!0 -
