Compare the Market insurance quotes changing when you refresh the page
Anyone else experienced this? I got three quotes in the space of 24 hours, and each time a different insurer came up cheapest, for wildly different prices.
The first one I got had a cheapest of ~£400 from Churchill. Using the same details (I went into the Edit screen, but didn't change anything) I refreshed the quotes around an hour later, and Tesco turned up with £350. I didn't renew immediately, since I've got a few weeks left, but I did refresh the quotes again last night (about 24 hours after the first quote), and Privilege popped up with £221.
I think the issue was that some of the quotes weren't coming back in time to the CtM comparison page, so it was timing out and not showing them. I didn't check at the time (it hadn't occurred to me), but I suspect Tesco and Privilege would have been at the bottom, in the "unable to provide quotes" section.

Have used Confused.com for my Polices and used Compare the Market to compare and never noticed any changes.
My daughter has done multiple quotes recently as she is learning and she wanted to make sure any purchase was affordable to Insure the car after passing her test.
The prices have not changed at any point
Though if you do an insurance quote 24 hours later than it is possible the quotes could vary slightly.
Why would that be strange?
Shares prices change every minute, risk calculations will change slightly every day as accidents and claims occur every day which changes how Insurers will assess their risk.0 -
I heard that quotes get dearer the closer you are to the insurance start date as they figure you are more desperate; not proved it either way myself in practice though.0
