Claiming from travel insurance

Hi,

This weekend my wife and I were due to go away for a few days to florence without the kids for the first time in years!

Lo and behold, the wife caught the flu.

We now can't go and according to the travel company airlines won't let you travel if you have the flu (not that you'd want to).

Luckily I have travel insurance (Cover For You - Emerald) but they seems really sketchy over if they'll pay out for the cancellation.

They said we need to get something from a Dr to say she is unfit for travel which my GP practice says their nurse practitioner can provide.

My question (after all that) is; have any of you had to do something similar? If so, is it straightforward?

Thanks for any help.

(I posted this elsewhere but I think it should be here)

Cancelled holiday some years ago on Doctors advice, with Doctors confirmation letter insurers paid up, less excess, no problem.

When we put in the claim, part of the form we received was to be filled in by our doctor (£36 please). I assume she has been to the doctor, otherwise he won't be able to say on the form that she was unfit to travel.

No she's due to go to the nurse practitioner today at 11am.
