Hi
A colleague of mine thinks he has a computer virus. His laptop will only start up with a blank screen, No menus are offered to do anything? Isn't there an Function key you can press on boot up and do a restore point?
Thank you for any advice
Phil

Hi Phil,
When you turn the computer on, do you get the manufacturers logo displayed on the screen? If you do, after the logo disappears, keep tapping F8 to display the recovery options. Select Safe Mode with Networking. Once it's started up, you'll be asked if you want to go back to a restore point, select yes and choose a date when the machine was working (not too far in the past). Once its all up and running again, run virus scanner & spyware software to clean it all up.
