Nice and bright here at present, planning a cycle ride later, so let's hope it stays that way!

I'm glad you have heard and can make plans Gers, such a sad reason for your trip.

Toad in the hole for dinner tonight.

Picked first rhubarb of the year from the allotment yesterday, lovely flavour.

Off to get more compost for the seedlings and some pebbles for our pebble pond. Also need to get ingredients for a good old Kentish dish, gypsy tart, that I taking as a contribution at the weekend, think brown sugar, evaporated milk and pastry .......

    Have a good day all

  • Good morning all.

HH - Early start and busy day for you. You'll hopefully sleep tonight!
Gers - Hope you're ok and plans go smoothly.
Furrybeast - Good luck with the run. I would recommend the Nike App for preparation if you haven't already got a plan. Very handy - and FREE!
Carolbee - Gypsy tart?!? Sounds delish!

Today will be work, then gym and chill out! Can't wait.

    Have a lovely day all.

  • Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one, Gers I hope your trip goes ok, such a sad reason for it though. Take care.

Bright morning, sun shining, not sure if the wind has dropped though. I expect OH will be out in the garden for a while. I need to prep supper and possibly tomorrows, it's the quilt group, I am always shattered when I get back.

I do not have any other plans as yet. OH could alter those, he needs to get his glasses fixed, the lens fell out, it means a trip to Melton again.

I need to start thinking about our trip at the end of April. I paid for it this month. We both could do with the rest and a change of scene.

Just a quick 'bob in' to say thanks for the good wishes.

It's been a struggle to get flights because of the Easter hols but I've managed it. No direct flights from Dubai to Melbourne left, either way, so having a transit stop at Kuala Lumpur on each of the long legs. Biggest problem is a 7 hour transit in Dubai on one leg but I've got access to the lounge so I can shower, refresh, eat and relax.

I've also booked a two bed apartment hotel near to the family. My SIL will be over-run with her two other sons and their families, plus her dementia-suffering elderly father so it's best that number 1 nephew and I are elsewhere at nights.

It's been an eventful morning so far and now it's a coffee break.

Have a great time in the Big Smoke Islandmaid - sounds exciting.

    Right, time for a rest.

Glad you now have a bit more news Gers and can plan things Being in limbo isn't very good for anyone especially when you are grieving.A sad reason to travel I wish you well.

Today the sun is out and shining brightly But then again it was yesterday and every so often it went very dark and there was torrential rain I hope it won't happen today. Its so blooming changeable at the moment.I have a quiet pottering day today not a lot to do just a bit of decluttering.Last night our team won at quiz night and we had two bottles of wine I now have enough in the cupboard for a share out for us all. Tomorrow I have the dentist with some root canal work to be done !! Still its better than losing my gnashers .
Hope everyone has a good day I have been watching on my TiVo box Jericho and its pleasant easy watching whilst I'm knitting ,even though I can see so many 'holes' in the story but that's the amateur historian in me :):):) enjoyable tosh though :)
No shopping today as I only need off my shopping list a cucumber and a pot of cream both of which can wait until Friday I think
    Cheers chums

    Morning all,

Gers glad you have all your arrangements in place now and hope the trip goes as smoothly as possible.

Felt really cold this morning when I took Ly1a out and was cold downstairs so the logburner has been lit-soon warms the place up.
Not much on today so am hoping to start sewing a dining chair cover up in a bit .It was a bit of a struggle getting all the staples out from the underneath yesterday-had to get DS to help with the trickiest.I had enough material in my stash to cut 2 out, only problem is its a chenille type so am a bit bothered it might fray too easily.
The gammon & sweetcorn chowder was delish yesterday so I'll have some more for my lunch, then need to rummage through the freezer for tea.

    have a good day x

    Afternoon all

    Hugs to Gers.

I dropped hubby at work, shopped for the food I'm serving tonight, blitzed the kitchen, all by 9:30.

I loaded a rug and two bin bags of stuff to take to DD, got there by 10, helped her around the house, played with the littlest ones. They all loved the clothes I bought them in lieu of a big Easter egg each, I bought them a really tiny egg each.

I got home just after 1 and started cooking for tonight, I need to collect hubby around 3ish.

    Have a good afternoon everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Ooh, yum! I have some strawberries in the freezer just crying out to go in "strubarb" crumble, so I'll have to see if they have any rhubarb on the market next week.

I need to make some freezer space in any case, as Ollie Staffy will be bringing frozen dinners with him when he comes to stay, so I gather.

Jack's just been for his afternoon walk, and made friends with another Spaniel and a Maltese. :o

We have Mr LW's dog-loving pal coming over tonight, so that'll be a treat both for him and for Jack. :o We have a "ding dinner" tonight - the 2nd half off the Shepherd Spy I made yesterday.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
  • I wish things in this house would stop giving me trouble, my sewing machine started today, I bought it almost 2 years ago, so I have rung to get it serviced where I got it from, my friend the sewing machine man. I have been using him for 25+ years and he has never let me down yet.

Its a good job I have the other machine I take to the quilting group. We are hand sewing this week so its in the table and has already sewn more of the bits of the blocks I am making. I have almost finished the patterned blocks, have to cut the plain blocks and the corners so set the quilt on point.

OH in the garden this morning sawing off a branch of the hedge which forms part of out boundary with the house at the back. It had actually grown round the wire fence, so we had to cut the wire before we could saw it off.

Nipped into town after lunch, OH got his glasses sorted, I picked up veg for the weekend.
