O/S Daily Thread for Wednesday 30th March 2016

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning all

I've been awake since 2 and got up at 4, Just couldn't lay there any longer.

I arranged to visit my DD today and then hubby came home and said we have visitors this evening so it's going to be a mad rush getting a meal ready for them when I get back from DD's.

Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Hello all, a quiet day for me. I'll work this morning and that will give me some time to potter this afternoon.
    Still sneezing away.

    Morning everyone.

    Thanks for the thread HH.

The ping of an iMessage coming through woke me up about 10 mins ago. My nephew's body has been released and the funeral is on Monday afternoon in Melbourne - all, systems go now. I need to co-ordinate with number 1 nephew who lives in the Midlands.

I've also got an SQA meeting this afternoon, timing not the best.

I hope everyone has a good Wednesday.

    Morning everyone

HH - thanks for starting us off, hope you get some more sleep at some point.

Hugs to those that want/need them x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Now light, chilly and damp underfoot.

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit as he's on school hols, will wake him shortly.

Dinner last night was LO roast lamb from Sunday's roast, made a jug of gravy and reheated the meat in the oven whilst hairdresser was here, just had reheated veg, yorkshires etc with it - was very tasty and nothing got thrown away. Today we'll be having fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg.

Yesterday work was as expected manic, it didn't start off that busy, a queue waiting at the door when we opened but nothing worse than a Monday - then within 30 minutes we were rammed, people everywhere, moaning, groaning, and it just continued all day, today will be much the same I think, we'll see. Today is the first day of the extra hours - just have to think of the extra money, not the extra hassle!

    Keep safe and well x

    Good morning all.

Gers, glad you finally have some information and can start making plans.

Hester, as we say in my house - a plan is a basis for change. Or alternatively, no plan survives contact with the enemy. Depends on whether you are feeling positive or not:D

Managed to kick DH and myself out of bed at 0600 rather than indulge in a lie in. He's off for a run, I'll walk the Furry before heading for the early bus.

Gym and Homebase (FREE primroses if I spend £10 and we have £30 in Nectar points and no Sainsburys I can use them in:D) and then DH will pick me up after taking Furry to the vet - as Ozzie is on Tramadol they need to see him every so often to confirm that we are not obtaining the drug illicitly to sell on the black market:rotfl:

I'll fit in a run this afternooon if it's not pouring with rain - only four weeks until my race:eek:

    Have a great day everyone.

    Morning All

HH - Sounds busier than if you were at work!
Gers - Glad you have heard from Oz, such a long wait.

Not much happening here, delivered a stereo to a Freegler and collected a bathroom cabinet for DD from another Freegler. The space from the stereo has been taken with the cabinet! I'll take it to DDs when I'm next going over.

Met friends for dinner last night, we meet in a chain pub that is convenient for us all and we had various vouchers to use so dinner cost us £2 each!

There's a white wash to put on but I don't have time this morning, will do it later when I get back from work/dentist.

Wednesday already, looking forward to Friday when the holidays start. Take care. XX
  • Morning all. Yet another miserable start here but forecast to improve! Wow! Yesterday we had heavy snow which was looking a bit worrying when it started to settle but it suddenly stopped and the sun came out (for a little while at least!)

I got back on the BSD wagon yesterday as planned. I made some Chickpea flour tortillas at lunchtime and, although they resembled pancakes rather than bread, I made quite an acceptable wrap with one, and enjoyed it for lunch with some salad. The rest went in the freezer for another day.

Today I want to pop into town to get some seeds and nuts for various low carb recipes I have earmarked. I have noticed Poundland have a big rack of such items, so will try there first before paying H & B' silly prices! Mr TA is going to the funeral of an old work colleague so I'll cadge a lift down with him and come back up on the bus.

Have a good day all (((HUGS))) where wanted/needed. GERS I'm glad you have had news at last, I hope you can make arrangements at such short notice. Take care all xxx

    Morning all,

Seems a lot cooler here today, off to work for me and it will be mega busy as we have an Easter egg hunt which is always packed out with kids, but good fun at the same time.

Off to mums for dinner tonight not sure what she is cooking but it will be lovely.

Need to do a wash tonight and have a sweep round, rubbish and recycling are out this morning.

    Good morning everyone

I got woken up early with a nasty cramp in my calf which left me swearing under my breath and hobbling round the bedroom trying not to wake anyone up. It eased off after a while and I came downstairs to find that hubby had already left for work. The girls are fast asleep at the moment but I think the grand children will be round in a little while so that will get them up.

It's a washing day today here as my baskets are overflowing. I have a load of towels mysteriously appeared although my daughters were cleaning their rooms yesterday. Luckily I have a one hour programme on the washing machine so I should zip through it all fairly quickly.

The pie I made yesterday was a huge success so I am going to make a turkey and leek pie for the freezer today. That should be the last of the turkey used up and no waste. DD16 wants to bake as well today so she can make a cake while the oven is on.

Gers, I am so pleased you have some news finally.

Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

    Morning everyone,

Bright but v cold here, we are meant to have a decent day though.

Day off and have plans, off into town this morning to drop a couple of bags off at the CS, will pop into W8trose to pick up a few bits for my new eating regime. Will get some washing on the line and make the most of the sunshine. Off to the yard this afternoon and hopefully will go for little ride on Bill but will see how he is. Also want to take the girls out across the field for a good yomp!

Gers - am glad you have now heard and can finally make plans
Have a good day all, take care folks x
