Scam calls after car accident
Options
Hi,
I'm hoping someone here can help me! I 'rear-ended' another car in June last year. I accepted responsibility and the claim was settled through my insurance company.
A couple of months after this, I started getting calls from a company calling themselves TenTen (could also be Ten Ten or 1010, I'm not sure of the format). They seem to be trying to get me to pursue compensation for the accident, despite the fact I was at fault. I asked every time they called me to be taken off their list and was assured time and time again that this would happen. In fact, someone claiming to be a manager at this company called me to say she knew I was getting a lot of calls and she was going to remove my details.
I've registered with the TPS, which has made no difference. I've complained to them twice to no avail. I've also contacted the ICO, CAB, and Trading Standards. There is no record of this company online when I Google it and the numbers they call from are always different and always fake so no one is able to do anything or give me any advice other than ignoring them or asking them to stop.
This company has my full name, address, landline and mobile numbers (both TPS registered) as well as my car make, model & registration and they know the exact date I hit the other car.
I'm really worried about how they got my details for a start but all enquiries about that have led to dead ends and denials. They claim it's on an insurance database, which I doubt.
Can anyone give me any advice on how to track this company down so I can write to them officially? If I can get an address for them then I can keep a record of correspondence and have evidence. At the moment I just have the dates and times they've called my mobile since the start of December and the numbers they've called from.
I got two calls today from "CAC" and "Auto Legal Assistance" as well, same old story so I'm assuming it's the same place but with different names.
If anyone is able to give me some help or advice I'd really appreciate it!
Thank you!
- Louise.

It will be on an insurance database. I don't think you can, you going to have to threaten them with court. Can you block their number?Do you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring0

There has to be a way of finding this stupid company, they're calling me constantly, on both my mobile and the landline number.
I can't block the numbers because it's a different number every time. The numbers are all fake so I guess it's to stop you calling them back to verbally abuse them for harassing you.
When I complained to TPS the first time they said they'd contacted 'MJC Marketing Ltd." and told them to leave me alone, so I guess the details matched somewhere. The second time they said they didn't have enough information to identify the company responsible.
I checked Companies House and there are lots of results for TenTen and no way to work out what each company actually does, other than a vague category at the bottom. Short of writing to each one individually I don't know how I can work out which one is calling me.0 -

There is no central "insurance database" that ambulance chasers have access to, it is pure BS. Someone has sold them the contact/accident details, could be anyone though; police, ambulance, insurer, broker, repair centre, recovery people etc etc.
OP, in the past I have feigned interest to get something put to me in writing and then at least I had a starting point to go after them with. All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.0 -

The reason you keep getting the calls is because you answer them. The first time you answer one of these scammers they know they have a 'live' number, and you go on a list which they sell on to the next chancer. Just ignore them. Don't answer calls from numbers you don't recognise.
They are probably calling from outside the UK anyway so there is nothing that can be done by the TPS.
Anyone calls me from a number I don't already have in my phone is ignored. If it's important they'll leave a message and I phone them back if it's someone I want/need to speak to.0 -
I bought a £25 box off ebay, and the phone rarely rings now. Not had a single unwanted call in over 5 months.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

Be polite
answer the call
ask them do you want me to carry out insurance fraud ?
when they ask why
tell them you were not injured and don't wish to claim
alternatively and If you do it's fraud .
next time they ring tell them you died in the crash and your talking to my ghost0 -

Somehow I think the person on the other end will just think "how original" and move on to the next person who answers without checking what number they are answering.
Why waste precious time on these people? I reiterate, once they know they have a genuine number it goes on a list to be sold on. Ignore the numbers you don't recognise.0
