Sounds like you have a problem with your cable / connector / signal, you say the sky box/living room tv doesn't use the aerial, the sky rf won't work if there is no link between it and the kitchen, and why the kitchen tv won't find channels in the living room.

    That is perfectly correct !

Is it possible that the freeview transmitter you are using has stopped transmitting that multipex ? (Seems unlikely if it's BBC, but...)

Yes, I suspect that is the problem.

I did try the TV in the living room with the aerial connection and get the same missing channels.

Anyway, I have resolved the issue by disconnecting the TV aerial cable from the kitchen TV and installing a ROKU stick, so now I can get BBC and SKY NEWS via a Roku stick on HDMI.

The other channels I get with the aerial source.

So, all is well in the abc household. Thanks to everyone.
  • obviously different frequencies have different interference results- just move the hdmi source cable or turn it off! simple solution to a 21st century problem..!

Every Freeview transmitter (including relay transmitters) is transmitting the BBC multiplex, but they may have recently moved frequencies.

This is a change that's rolling out over the country in the next few years, and it may be that your old aerial no longer picks up these channels.
A new wideband aerial would sort that.

I think the reason you got no output when connecting the RF cable to the Sky box is that it outputs an analogue signal, and modern TVs are unlikely to have an analogue tuner (might be wrong).

I dont think either is, I think that we just don`t receive the "missing" channels because of our location. When I did a retune on the TV, it was missing the channel numbers that were listed on the Freeview website as requiring change due to a frequency change, however my TV cannot alter this manually and I dont want to buy new TV because of this.

Before you buy a new tv, rewire your house, or buy any expensive equipment.... ask the neighbours if they can get the channel and what the number is

It's a thread from over 18 months ago so I imagine the OP has found a solution by now. Why a new poster has resurrected it I have no idea.
