new house with broken boiler

sorry for the long post but here goes
I recently brought a new house, the survey said get the boiler checked so the my solicitor asked for an inspection and we were sent a report stating its all ok, it says that it meets current safety regs, is working properly and all functioning parts are available
I completed the sale last week and the builders moved straight in to do some renovations, they told me i had no hot water, the plumber was there and had a look and was concerned with the state/age of the boiler.
i contacted the estate agent who in turn contacted the vendor who said it was all working fine when they left the property
so today i called the boiler manufacturer who offer a maintenance scheme and they were aware of my boiler as the previous owners used their warranty, they told me over the phone they were called out in february as there was no heating or hot water, they replaced a couple of parts but couldnt complete the repair as they couldnt access all the parts because of where it was situated
when the engineer came out this afternoon he told me he was very familiar with it and that he had been telling the previous owners there were issues and it didnt conform to safety standards for 3 years, the expansion vessel is hidden in a cavity wall and if it leaks it will spout 180 degree water out and as the stop !!!! is in the same wall it will literally take someones skin off if they try to turn off the water as it spews out. there are other issues as the flue goes through the ceiling so cant be inspected. he tells me last time he was there he again left a list of things needed doing to make it safe and left them on a sticker on the boiler but instead of doing them they simply removed the sticker
so i have an issue with the inspection that is clearly a work of fiction and the vendors who knew the boiler was not only faulty but also unsafe
what do i do here, do i have any comeback and if so on who?

You need to complain initially to whoever did that inspection for you, and
secondly report the poor standard of the inspecion to GasSafe here:If you have a complaint about a Gas Safe registered engineer you can make a complaint via our website0 -
my solicitor requested it from them and the vendor paid for it0
-
Look at the report. Who did it? Check the name on the gasSafe register.
I'm surprised your solicitor agreed to this arrangement. He should have advised you to get your own inspection done. As you have no contractual arrangement with the gas engineer you cannot complain to him.0 -
do you think i have any comeback with the seller who clearly knew there were problems with it0
-
Caveat emptor applies.I am not a cat (But my friend is)0
-
The seller will simply refer you to the report.
Your most likely avenue is if you can establish that the report was done either
a) illegally ie not by a GasSafe registered engineer, or
b) incompetantly (you can get GasSafe to re-inspect I believe, to check the competance of the report(0
