Use insurance or pay?

Hello,
I had a minor accident in my Ford Kuga... which resulted in a big of a dent in my door. Had two quotes and both have said £400 plus the cost of a door (which I've found online). Is this something I should be going through my insurer for, or will they knock up my claim next year. I don't have protected no claims...

Thanks :)

They will knock up the premium nest year and also since your no claims are unprotected, worse case scenario you may end with 0.

Whose fault was the accident If it was you then you need to work out how much you'll be paying in terms of excess, increased premium taking into account loss of NCB versus the cost of paying for the repair yourself.

Bear in mind you are contractually obliged to inform your insurer of the accident but I'll leave that one to you to decide.

Okay thanks! It was my fault... rusted post, below eye level in car park. No one else involved or injured!

If you damaged it, is the post's owner likely to make a claim against you? (Were you caught on camera?)

No, the post was in no way damaged. It is a very sturdy and rusty old post which did have markings on it to make it more noticeable, but these were faded and only at the bottom of the post.
